PSA - Upcoming Gemstone Changes

Hello,

Ever since the release of the Crystal Hollows, a larger and larger portion of the total coins income of the game has been from Gemstones being sold to NPCs.
While the total amount of daily coin income didn’t really rise much compared to before, the main issue is that less and less players would participate in the large coin sinks of the game, in favor of gemstone mining.

More coins income and less coins expenditures = inflation.

The changes below are currently aimed for the end of the week, but it is still time for you to give feedback.

EDIT: Thread updated with all the >round 2< changes!

Here is the list of proposed changes:

1/ Nerf the NPC price from 8 to 4
  • Rough: 4
  • Flawed: 320
  • Fine: 25,600
  • Flawless: 2,048,000
  • Perfect: 10,240,000

2/ Fix the Pristine chat message, currently displaying a lower amount than players actually get.

3/ Add a price upon removing gems on items, with confirmation
  • 1 Coin for Rough
  • 100 for Flawed
  • 10,000 for Fine
  • 100,000 for Flawless
  • 500,000 for Perfect
Note: Those numbers are meant to be a small fee, after debating values we felt those would not feel punishing. But please give your feedback on that removal fee.

4/ Add a feature inside the Gemstone Grinder that unlocks gemstone slots on regular items. Not all items have locked slots, some items have only a few locked slots.
Examples:
  • Aspect of the End:
    • Sapphire slot is free, no cost to unlock
  • Flamebreaker Armor:
    • Ruby slot is free
    • Amber slot is 5k coins + 1 Fine Amber
    • Jade slot is 20k coins + 4 Fine Jade
  • Necron Armor:
    • Jasper Slot: 250k coins + 4 Flawless Jasper
    • Combat Slot: 250k coins + 1 Flawless Jasper + 1 Flawless Sapphire + 1 Flawless Ruby + 1 Flawless Amethyst

This change would only apply on new pieces of gear, all current armors/gear in the game would have all slots unlocked by default.

Note: Once players obtain a full set of Perfect Gemstones, they technically don’t need to obtain new gemstones, as swapping gemstones from an item to a new one doesn’t cost gemstones.
We believe that is completely OK. The Crystal Hollow isn’t meant to be a place where players will perpetually need to invest a lot of time and effort.
However we also value the bazaar price of gemstones to remain high, and if there aren’t any gemstone sinks it might get lower and lower with time.
That is the main reason why those unlock costs are being introduced. Please give us your opinion on those.

Introduce Combat Slots, Mining Slots and Defensive Slots, to break away from Universal Slots. Which allows us to add more slots on items without worrying about their power level skyrocketing.

If you currently have a gemstone in a slot that won’t support it in the future, do not worry, you’ll be able to remove that gemstone for free.

6/ Higher drop chance of Jaderald

7/ Change gemstone mixture recipe
  • 320 Sludge Juice instead of 500
  • 4 Fine Jade/Amethyst/Amber/Sapphire instead of 2

8/ Crystal Nucleus Changes:
  • Upon completing, new bonus of 800 HotM EXP every time.
  • Give 1 of each Fine Gemstones on top of current rewards
  • Add rare rewards
    • 1 gemstone mixture
    • 1 Fortune 4 book
  • Add very rare rewards
    • Make flawless gemstones a bit more common.
    • 1 new pet item that gives Mining Speed

9/ Add a way to see the gemstones on an item without using addons. (Visible in the stats)

10/ Make the Artifact of power upgrade rarity when you put 7 perfect gemstones on it.

11/ The default rarity of the Divan's Drill will remain Mythic.
However, we will officialize a rarity above Mythic, called Divine, with its own reforge stats. This rarity will be kept exclusive to items of the caliber of the Divan’s Drill.
Divine will be added as an AH filter.
Enchanted Books cannot be Divine.

12/ Add chat toggles in settings to Pristine and Compact messages.

13/ The Jungle Pickaxe shall be fixed.

14/ Increase the odds of Divan’s Alloy dropping a bit.

15/ Change Scatha’s 2nd perk to increase odds of finding regular chests instead.
Change the 3rd perk to only work on adjacent hardstone instead of every block.
Some extra details on the worm spawning buffs: Currently it checks if the players are in a small tunnel, but the requirements are often too small, worms will now be able to spawn in larger tunnels.

16/ Make sure Pristine and Compact are compatible on the same item.

17/ Slight buffs to how many stats the Sapphire, Ruby and Amethyst gemstone slots provide.

18/ Ruby and Jasper Crystals will now have a chance to drop from Crystal Nucleus.

19/ Players that have too many Heart of the Mountain tokens will have those tokens reset!

20/ The description of the Jungle Amulet will be improved to better explain what it does.

well finally they are nerfing this, kinda glad even tho I spent 1.8bil on mining set-up

edit: Just read the gemstone list, FB may actually be meta now (2 gemstone slots)

edit 2: did some maths, in dung with term (without considering cc and fero), fb+blaze pet is around 3.45% more single hit dmg (it’s overall around 4% less dps if the loss in cc and fero is considered) than necron+edrag with around 25% more ehp (assuming cata 50 and everything maxed for both sets), TIME TO BUY FB

edit 3: the calculations (may be kinda hard to understand because I never really intend to post it)

also one final note, this is only in dung with highest stats— in normal situations/outside of dung 2/4 necron+tux cp or 3/4 necron is probably still better for pure dmg (gdrag+necron is better for dps as well even at cata 50, but gdrag is gdrag), but fb definitely shreds necron+edrag in ehp

edit 4: I already included the 2 jasper gems for both sets in the very start (which apparently vegantoes didn’t notice and just directly call me math ‘unfair’, maybe I shouldn’t have posted the math process afterall because it’s unclear), so the maths is pretty much correct (apart from the talisman stat assumption because it varies), the -4% overall dmg part is only an estimation as well (as it depends on how many vicious wands u stack)

I also want to say that at such high levels, no one uses tank pets as a dps class— therefore please stop using necron+yeti to argue
Plus this is also only comparing a single situation (dungeon clearing), therefore pet lock isn’t a problem here either

And for god’s sake, please stop panic selling necron for fb— fb won’t shine at all when you are low cata

This is a choice forum post about gemstone changes. Aimed for the middle of next week.
You have to give feedback (isn't it obvious?)

Other than that, there is a huge spreadsheet in the forum post about the upcoming changes, propsed and other changes for feedback. Also addresses the one coin, but we already covered this in that one server*.
