What Are Your Overall Thoughts on the Year of the Seal?

With the return of the Year of the Seal, I thought it'd be useful to get the opinions of players on the event and what they think of it. It's had some time to sit in the minds of people since it first came around and ferment long enough to hopefully allow players to form concrete opinions.

So, the Year of the Seal is a once-every-12-in-game-years event that allows players to catch bouncy beach balls as treasure catches to obtain fishy treats in exchange for some utilities and even cosmetics. The even only comes around every 2 real-life months, so it's pertinent to make the most of the event while it's around.

What's your opinion on the event?
If you like the event, what do you like about it? What qualities do you enjoy that you feel make it fun to play or engage with? Are there aspects you wish the dev team would expand on or think it's fine the way it is?
If you dislike the event, what do you not like about it? What aspects make it unenjoyable for you? What do you think could be done to improve on its issues?

These are just some thinking questions to encourage discussion if you desire; you're not required to answer if you don't feel you can provide an adequate answer.

If you feel on-the-fence in terms of your opinion on the event, either refrain from answering in the poll or choose the answer you gravitate towards most - likely somewhat positive/negative.
Answers can be viewed without participation and you may change your vote at any time so-you-desire.

I look forward to the results!

I'll save you the trouble of checking the results for future event polls:
makes money = positive votes
does not make money = negative votes
That's very unnerving if true; that was an early pattern I was noticing with these first few replies. A LOT of praise in terms of profitability but very little in regard to the actual unique additions or gear. Personally I prioritize the fun or interest something has rather than how much money it can produce, but I suppose others are entitled to different priorities.

Perhaps in the future I should specify how people feel on the gameplay rather than its economic impact; or perhaps both and how those feelings interact with one-another - if they think something is fun but unprofitable, profitable but unfun, or a nice balance of both.

Not to disregard the current polls, but I would assume the main reason the event is so profitable - and thus why most so far have answered a form of positive - is because a lot of people actually do not like the event and prefer to avoid interacting with it, opting to buy the unique items from it off the markets instead. Though that's only speculation and I don't want to completely disregard the market as a contributing factor.

May anyone like to pitch in on this thought?

Most people will vote based on "do I enjoy this?" but because we are not robots we are biased based on if something benefits us rather than just "is it objectively well designed/enjoyable"

If you remove all the profit from dungeons, is it still fun? Sure, but most people will then say "dungeons isn't fun anymore" even though nothing in the gameplay changed. But now that now you don't benefit as much from it, subconsciously you'll enjoy it less knowing that.
Most people won't literally think "this is bad because it makes no money," rather they genuinely don't enjoy it as much because of the lack of accomplishment that is gained from an activity that isn't profitable or beneficial.

That's something that has to be taken into account when designing events as well. Even if your gameplay is amazing, if there is no incentive to actually partake in this activity, people won't enjoy it or just avoid it entirely.

Another bump, for sakeskeep. Currently leading consensus is "somewhat positive," making up a whole 41% of the votes, which the total votes being more in the positive range than negative.

I am curious, as a decent number of comments so far have been either indeterminate or purely focused on the profitability of the event; what do people think of the actual gameplay exclusive to the event? Fishing up the bouncy beach balls and then subsequently bouncing them for fishy treats? Think it's fun? Unfun? Should be more rewarding/varied?

I like how they lowered the threshold for max treats from the balls (I swear it used to be like 50. what is it now?)

I think it'll be good when we have all the other events so 1 each year and it settles into more of an early game thing.
