Why is this community so toxic. Screw elitism i hate it so much.

Honestly, I don't get it.

I played this game actively from 2019 to early-mid 2023 and back then the game was already toxic as frick. But now that I don't play anymore I can reflect on how stupid this community is sometimes.

You see posts where people ask what mp they need for kuudra or m7, and one of the first replies to the post is a passive aggressive comment not answering the players question and instead telling them to just give up.

And I had similar experiences with this community before I quit. It's always toxicity, it's always passive aggressive bullcrap. People make it their duty to tell a 13 year old that they suck at this PvE game and that they should reconsider having asked their question in the first place.

And so much "common sense" is not common sense. Everything is common sense to a sweaty no life who plays this game 24/7, but not to the average player.

And i'll be honest. A lot of people talking have no idea of what they're saying and are still giving advice. And half the time it is even players who seem to have decent stats. It's almost as if they are trying to troll others and have the "if you make progress, my achievements mean less" mentality. That everything is a competition and that helping other players is a sin. Or they're on mount stupid and just follow the sheep mentality that they've been told without testing anything.

AND PEOPLE ALWAYS HUMBLE BRAG, IT MAKES ME GO INSANE. I don't mind bragging at all, I do mind trying to sound humble when you're really just trying to flex to satisfy your ego. Own up to it big man, and just brag directly.

Dude, or on "Returning player" or "new player" posts, peopel always start with "don't play this game, it sucks." Bro


Elitism drives me crazy. Seeing the playerbase ruin a game that truly has a spot in my heart sucks.


I know I made like... 3 posts about me complaining about this toxic community in the past idk how many years, and I also know that you took all of them down. Please don't do it this time, this is a relevant discussion about this game and should not be silenced.

Especially considering you allow borderline bullying on your platform but not public shaming or harmless jokes.

I think a big problem is that skyblock players have huge egos
 
Every post asking for advice people will somehow find a way to **** on you instead of actually answering the question. Good luck if you're using something slightly off optimal, how dare you have a GS on your inventory, here's 50 reasons why you suck because of it.

Every post about scamming, people could just ignore if they don't like it but nooo we have to **** on this kid and tell them how dumb they were, as if they were not hit by the scam already.

The other day some kid (I'm assuming) asked what armor they should get after late game, ffs the replies were almost all ****ting on the fact they said they were late game instead of trying to help, that was the least important thing on their post.

I think at this point if I want an answer out of a question I'll just post a wrong guide so people get out of their place to tell me how wrong I am, at least I'll get what I'm looking for.
 
thats because a good amount of people on here are uh not very good at the game
so youre getting the people that dont play and post all day replying to those
 
Honestly this is FAR from the worst I have seen.

Hypixel Skyblock players are saints in comparison to other communities I have (unfortunately) been a part of before...
 
There are worse communities, but fact that someone is worse doesn't mean that you can now be bad

not 13, only 6 years after but this hits deep. Just tryna play some kuudra and getting flamed for existing. Im guessing you saw my earlier post making you think of this post. Much love brotherman <3. I also started in 2019 when most of these kids werent even talking yet.

Yeah, I did see your post! I think you also took it well by just ignoring the trolls for the most part and taking a stance.

I was not talking about you when I mentioned 13 year olds, I have seen many others on the forums who seemed a bit younger(based on them not taking the borderline bullying well and having 10-20 posts) and that annoys the crap out of me. Because those are the people that do take this stuff personally.

I understand completely. Every time I see a new player or someone that needs help I try to help them to the best of my abilities, just as I was in the lapis mines oh so long ago. I think most of the reason is because a small population make up a vocal majority. I feel like there are still a lot of us out there that want to help as we were earlier, just to set a spark in newer players. I think this is somewhat the reason the games popularity has died down because you have losers that dont have a job or any plans with their real life that spend around a hundred hours a week on the game trying to overcompensate with their situation by making other people feel smaller. Its little man syndrome thats all.

and those who do make it past the "new player" stage is fored into a set meta
everyone who does not accept it gets flamed
people should be free to play the game however they want instead of being forced into one single line of progression

completely agreed, I think most of the flaws stem from people being forced to play party finder things, and people in party finder automatically after they get a certain thing think that everybody that doesnt have that thing is useless.

you are expected to have a certain pb
but, in order to get that pb, you need to have good teammates
and good teammates have that pb
and people with that pb kick out enyone who doesnt have that pb
