Please revamp Dark Auction for Ironman

I don't care how it happens. Just something needs to change. It's impossible to keep up with the economy. Make it a set NPC price that we only get 3-4 choices from every DA, or whatever it might be to fix the problem, but holy **** its so frustrating to try and get something only to waste days grinding coins and even longer getting a lobby that doesn't overbid a ridiculous amount. end the suffering please.
And the "they chose ironman argument" sucks here cause yes I did so I didn't have to be in the economy and now a lot of progress is locked behind a hyper inflated economy I can't keep up with. Something needs to change

Add a chance for one dark auction lobby that only accepts ironman profiles :react_like:

Have you considered that it's a two way street? Sorry if this sounds rude, I don't mean to hate, but ironman players kinda started the inflation indirectly. Ironman players overbid because they can't buy off of the ah, which increases the price. The inflation in the economy is definitely a contributary factor, but it isn't solely responsible.

I think i get what you are saying, but i feel like its worded horribly. How are we, a profile with no access to the economy outside of the dark auction causing inflation? The reason people bid up in the DA is to get the Seal of the Family, which is fine because you can just sell the item and sure you will lose 20ish mil on each item but it at that stage in the game it doesnt matter. Ironman doens't have that luxury of reselling and that 300-500m for an artifact is gone and we have to regrind all of that money again just to get another one. So that 20-50m overpay doesn't hurt main profiles, but ironman profiles just cant keep up with people throwing caution into the wind to get Seal of the Family

Dark Auction should be like Shen's Auctions IMO
The former should be the top bidders like top 5 who win that item, NOT the only one Top Bidder

that would be interesting, they would have to change the system pretty significantly to keep it fast paced and with stuff like the midas sword but thats actually a pretty nice idea

how about we close ironman instead and we transform your profile into regular...and u basically have to not to worry about what ur doing on ur own..the game feature will actually stay identical for u

ur made up progression will continue w ur own toughts exaclty how it was going before

that doesn't exclude the fact that da rework is required

that is base logic.. one argument doesn't exclude the other

i just want development time to be working more for us all and not for made up progressions honestly :3

that would make it so instead of reworking dark auction twice they will just have to rework it once

start thinking about it..we can expand on made up progression in any way shape or form u want...u just describe your entire progression and i will tell u why is made up point by point...or u can check all my past thread about ironman alternatively

Okay first off, the overpay does indeed hurt non-ironman players. Secondly, ironman players usually overpay way more because they know they have to compete, hence some of the inflation for dark auction. Lastly, I don't think that a seperate Dark auction for ironman would help because late game players would still probably go off of standard prices

There's a very slim possibility that along with the "Ironman W's" update they mentioned at the year-end update post that they might make some changes to Dark Auction to make it more Ironman-friendly, but I seriously suggest not holding your breath on that idea - that is merely speculation.

Man…all I ask in general for a DA revamp is sirious shady deals where he sells you stuff on a monthly rotation to you directly at huge mark ups and tokens (tokens you get by doing shady fetch quests and bidding/winning stuff in DA) so I don’t have to deal with outbidding brainrot

Ban mods from showing BIN prices in dark auctions. :) /s

Or the ironman dark auction lobby if that somehow happened but keeping prices showing in regular profiles?

Also isn't there kind of inflation with Ironman profiles and/or stranded buying booster cookies from the "special bazaar" as well?
Although it seems like a necessary evil vs actually spending money for gems. Not as many would even touch those modes if they remained gems only like Ironman initially was until mid 2021. I know I wouldn't have for the long term if at all.

-_-

Also the cookie thing doesn't really have a solution without just making them bought from an NPC or something

They should just change the DA to a different format anyways imo

atm, it gets inflated because people want to overspend to get seal, and get these items. Theoretically as time goes on these items should be getting cheaper and cheaper because more and more are going onto the market, but thats not the case for many reasons im too lazy to go into

what I do think would help fix it is changing the auction format (I should probably make a post by itself on this topic)
but to summarize:
  • Change it to a silent auction, where people submit a number into the system on how much they are willing to pay for the item

  • The winner is the person who put the highest number on their submission, but they only have to pay the 2nd highest bidders amount
  • An example of how this goes is the following
    • Alice places a bid for $5
    • Bob places a bid for $15
    • Charlie places a bid for $25

    • Charlie Wins the auction, but only pays $15, instead of the $25 they put up
  • This creates a system where it is incentivized to only put up the amount you are actually willing to pay, which should make people pay closer to what the items are actually worth

This would not only fix the system for ironman, but in general should make it a better system for everyone, because overtime, overbidding by large amounts will become less and less common

making a challenge game mode is not an excuse for inherently bad game design

dark auction as a problem exists for regular profiles to a lesser extent as well
if its given to ironman give it to normal profile also so challenge gamemode doesnt get special privileges then. dont make this feature ironman only
