Survey Results
Sorry it took so long to finish this real life has caught up to me but its time for results. I found a lot of interesting information however if there's anything else your interested in seeing based off of the questions from the previous survey leave a reply and ill edit this or reply to your comment with it.
For your ease of reading there are a few sections.
1. General
2. Dungeons
3. Slayers
4. Economy
5. Misc
6. Tips from Players
7. Conclusion
Theres a lot of interesting information throughout so please dont skip around the post however if you do I understand but there is some cool things to read and find out about.
General
Well first things first we should lay a basis of what to expect from the results of the survey. First off we got a total of 148 responses, some of which weren't serious (shout out to the person who answered with only 69 and "grinding men". And here is a couple charts for the distribution of the players and their progression in skyblock.
Honestly surprised that most players are MVP+ however im assuming thats largely because people on the forms play a lot of hypixel and thus spend the money to get a slightly higher rank, however i figured VIP would have a larger portion of the player base.
Shoutout to the one person who plays stranded.
Im honestly really happy with the diverse spread of responses as the first survey I created had very few responses from early game and end game players. All though there still is smaller margins of those players its still enough that im happy with it.
Honestly I never thought about it but this makes total sense. I'm glad skyblock isn't way easier for larger coop's but I do wish there was more incentive to play with more friends on a coop.
But now onto the actually cool information!
Firstly I had 3 questions relating towards if players had a wither impact weapon, a terminator, or a golden dragon because I felt these were the 3 main items that players have a goal to get.
Im a little confused on why theres a bump for players who consider themselves early game but also have a terminator, im assuming this is either due to confusion between terminator and juju shortbow or with it just being the cheapest out of all the items. For the hyperion / wither impact weapon it makes sense as the cost of obtaining it is the highest out of all the three and if people at earlier stages were to purchase a golden dragon they most likely would purchase a level 0 and theres no point in having one at that early of a stage.
Next up we have a couple of questions relating to players active and total playtime
Im a little surprised by the lack of correlation between weekly playtime and skyblock level as I assumed at least slightly that people with higher skyblock levels would also play the game more regularly leading to higher weekly playtimes but I guess not.
These relationships are pretty expected however here are the actual raw values for those who are interested.
(There were some questions for Pet score, Magical Power, Skill average, and Minion slots however none of the information seemed very interesting and so i left it off here however if there's anything you are interested in leave a comment and ill see about providing some information or a new chart)
Dungeons
I feel like this is going to be the second most popular source of information besides economy but here are some results. First off some simple quick short info. The average Cata level was 32.83, and the average Class Average was 27.6. Here is a graph of the class spread,
Honestly should of expected this and not sure who is going to find this super interesting but there you go
The floor spread makes fairly good sense. For regular floors its largely people grinding for xp or people who cant do good MM floors and run F7 for handle. For master mode floors the more popular ones (3, 5, 7) are likely due to them being good for money and xp with the other ones likely being for people who are grinding xp, or ironman and each one getting progressively less votes due to the higher cata req's.
Now the next few charts are about peoples opinions on dungeons and the future of dungeons. Ill post most of these without comment until the end because I feel like a lot of these go hand and hand.
Average: 6.0
Average: 5.78
Seems to be fairly divisive some people hating them, some people loving them, but excluding the extremes it seems to hover somewhere slightly above average so most people *probably* enjoy secrets a little bit.
Average: 6.89
Average: 3.99 (4)
Average: 6.93
Honestly surprised the average is so low when looking at the responses a high majority of players would love to see another dungeon get added.
Average: 7.19
Now speaking on the responses as a whole its fairly clear that the player base really enjoys the dungeons experience however most of the pain people find is probably due to the grind for cata levels due to how necessary they are to playing dungeons well, finding secrets being a requirement for good loot, and im assuming the receptiveness of dungeons. However that being said the fact that so many people want more of them but really want something different is also interesting because if we do get new dungeons in the future they are most likely going to use the same if not similar system now instead of spending another 4 years re developing the entire dungeons system. This probably means we arent going to see new dungeons for a very long time but who knows.
Slayers
Honestly with slayers im not really entirely sure what I expected, there isnt much information here however one thing i want to note is that there could be some inconsistencies in the results as people who did not do slayers, or did have preferences answered with "Zombie" so keep that in mind.
Honestly kinda surprised at how much slayer xp people in early, early-midgame have.
Next are a few basic preferences questions. Most of the answers are honestly pretty expected to me so I wont comment much on them however they are here for you to look at if your interested. Sorry for the dump of graphs in advance.
I got tired of copy pasting all of these so i just copy pasted the last two together.
Economy
Alright finally on the good section. I already know most of you probably skipped here but there's some really interesting info elsewhere so please look around some more!
Firstly here are some graphs on the relationship of money and peoples progression.
I know the numbers are confusing so ill do a little translating. 1E+08 is 100m, 1E+09 is 1b, 1E+10 is 10b, and 1E+11 is 100b. Its a logarithmic graph so its hard to tell but peoples networth grows more rapidly the higher the networth which makes sense.
Honestly expected and makes sense however some people had some crazy responses for networth. Shoutout to the guy who said his networth was 1, the person who was early game and said they were #1 networth with 400b, and sorry to the person who answered there networth in binary, I have no idea how you formatted it and I am not translating all of your number answers into real numbers sorry.
There are some crazy outliers here which makes google sheets struggle to find a proper line but thats most likely due to people recently making large purchases or investments, the trendline here is also linear which means as people have more coins the faster they earn coins as well. Obviously there could be any number of reasons for this but its most likely due to having better items to do parts of the game more efficiently to earn more coins.
Similar to the first graph so not much to go over however this shows more clearly the exponential nature of networth as you progress.
Now moving onto MMM, also known as the part that everyone whos broke wants to see (me). I do want to say I did forget to add fishing to this and there was an other category for other methods and after going through them the most common responses that werent listed in no particular order were: Fishing, Forge Flipping, Investments, and Experiments (maybe next time i should ask about what people invested into fr)
Not much to go over here however I am surprised at the lack of end game players that do kuudra for money. I assume this is simply due to a lot of people saying its boring (i disagree) and also it requiring such a high amount of money to invest to become worth it and people would rather get the 1 billion coin handle instead.
Misc
asd So the first misc question I asked was HOTM level however most players simply said 10 so I figured there wasnt too much to dive into and left it, however shoutout to the one person who hit HOTM 11.
The following question are about skills and peoples opinions of them and what they want to see. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: Since the survey was made two updates were released. The Year of the Seal / Yearly events, and the Backwater Bayou so all the fishing related answers honestly can be largely minimized as they have tackled a big complaint I noticed from the survey of early game fishing being very tedious and not fun.
(yes i screenshotted two of them again this is getting tiring at this point)
For players least favorite skill its pretty clear that they would respond with foraging and fishing however if we look past those im honestly pretty surprised alchemy is so high up. Personally alchemy is a very quick grind that isnt that bad however I understand that people may not like the skill due to it having no point anymore since theres no reason to brew potions since the introduction of god pots.
And for most favorite skill I should of expected combat to get such a large portion, and I wish I could of taken it out but that wouldnt of been fair. Look past that Mining makes sense as its good money, has a lot of diverse content especially with the HOTM however I am surprised how liked farming is. I figured farming would be one that barely showed up on either most or least favorite but I guess a portion of the community likes to sit there holding two keys for 300 hours.
Now again to restate fishing has received a decently large update to early game fishing so a large number of these responses are outdated so looking past that we obviously understanding foraging getting such a large number of votes and besides that it honestly makes sense that most people wanna see an Alchemy update and an update to the 3 "cosmetic" skills as they really dont have anything to them and It would be interesting to see where they go.
Now this last part is mostly peoples opinions on the future of skyblock. The first thing is a list of various things people want to see changed, Ill list the most interesting or most common responses in a spoiler below this however to sum up what ive read from the 122 different responses to this question,
Foraging, Fishing, Enchanting, and Alchemy have long grinds with little rewards and little gameplay and players really want to see something changed with these skills.
And secondly making tedious grinds such as CA 50, Slayers, Farming milestones, etc be shorter and more intriguing in terms of content instead of doing the same thing over and over again for so long.
Im also surprised at the multiple responses of people wanting a Catacombs overhaul and also surprisingly i got multiple responses about adding more story content and quests to skyblock which im a fan of honestly.
The next question was if you could change anything to skyblock what would you do? and besides people saying release foraging over and over there was a lot of good responses so ill leave another list here for those who are interested.
Tips from Players
Shoutout to the community for giving some helpful advice for players we can make the skyblock community more wholesome one step at a time. I feel a lot of these are honestly really nice and helpful which i didnt expect so thank you everyone who left a response!
The most common tips were
1. Focus on MP its really important to your progression
2. Passive money making methods like the Forge, Rift, Minions, Flips, ETC will really help you and you should always have those going
3. Focus on whats fun and set a goal for yourself so you have fun and dont get burnt out.
"Chase MP a lot, its very useful."
"get a solid consistent preferably non rng money maker ( mining/farming etc. ) then make the other half the important stuff you'll have to spend your money on"
"Please learn how to do dungeons properly. Go on youtube, find povs and guides from good players (FlameOfWar, eatplastic, EngineerAndrew, etc.) learn how to clear efficiently, learn secret routes, use pearls in trap (even if you don't use good pearl trap routes PLEASE just use them at least), learn how to do bosses, etc. etc."
"forge flipping is a great no-effort money making method; focus on minions if you dont play much"
"The early game grinds are the worst. When you first enter the game you are bombarded with get to blah blah blah lvl 12 or get to blah blah blah lvl 15 and you’ve got no idea what you’re doing. This is what causes most sb players to quit before they hit skyblock lvl 80. If you can make it past the early game then youll have a ton of fun. You’ve just gotta get past that first step."
"focus on money making methods and dont entirely focus on dungeons esp if early game"
"Don't make money your principal goal, try a specific skill or item."
(I just wanna preface between the last two its really up to you and how you want to have fun. If you like fast progression and getting rich focus on money, if you want to have fun and enjoy the game over time do the second one and find something you like and work towards it)
"Do what you find fun, not what other people tell you it's best to do. Going by the "meta" may be optimal, but if you don't have fun what's the point? This is not a 9/5 job."
"Don't push Powder Mining down the line. Get over with it soon."
"Investing is good to make long term money"
"set a goal in order to progress farther without getting exhausted from it"
"Put your money to work. By far the easiest way to get money early game is flipping so put up some flips while progressing"
"Never use duplex bow when doing blaze puzzle."
"Bite the dungeons bullet as Ironman"
"dont sell your old setup for a new one if theyre in different parts of the game"
"Passive money like forge or minions is the rng meter for your goals."
Conclusion
Doing this survey was really fun and honestly there was a lot of cool stuff to hear about and find out. If theres anything else you want to know leave a reply and I may give you some information and make a new graph with it if its interesting. I left the original survey open so you can look at the questions to see the data I have however I wont really be using any new data so theres no point in responding
I wouldnt mind doing another one of these again in the future however the problem is actually writing these posts takes forever (This one took me over 4 Hours of just writing because the fourms is a pain to format) If anyone has any tips on how I could write these any easier or get the charts in any better please let me know so the next one isnt the biggest pain ever, also so that I can add more questions as if theres more questions the longer this would take to write. I also learnt and wrote down things I would change if I make another one so its even better.
Thanks again to everyone who responded to the post and filled out the survey!
Sorry it took so long to finish this real life has caught up to me but its time for results. I found a lot of interesting information however if there's anything else your interested in seeing based off of the questions from the previous survey leave a reply and ill edit this or reply to your comment with it.

"Remove the ability to carry slayer bosses"

"Remove the ability for unranked users to use the auction house"

Hypixel Skyblock Survey #2!
What is it?
The goal of this survey is to gather players progression in the game and look for common trends between players, as well as see what players want most from skyblock's future and what parts of the game need changes. I like to take a look at what players of similar progression tend to do the most and look at the differences between players of all points of progression
