Whats the EASIEST way to make a texture pack for 1.8.9?

So ever since TextureMC went down, I cant make my packs.:hypixel_cry: So, I have been searching for a good website to make packs. I tried paint.net but couldn't figure out how to put the sword texture into the sword texture.(I mean like, I made a texture for the sword but don't know what to do with it.)And the tutorials were so confusing. What do you use and whats the easiest way to make one/learn to make one?

For paint.net
Open your texture pack, then go through the folders until you find a whole list of different images with names such as "gold_sword" etc.
To edit for example, the gold sword you will go to minecrafts > assets > textures > items > gold_sword.png (image file)
Right click the file and click "open with paint.net" then edit your texture however you like
Then after you are done click save and you should be done

Using websites is not recommended for pack making, it is much better to learn to use the software and navigate through the files manually. It is easy once you get the hang of it, but unfortunately this is the best way
