Minions are affected by many different things: farming minions are boosted by the rabbit pet; the magma cube pet will boost slime minions; potato minions are affected by the potato talisman, etc. These only affect the minions when there is a user online with these boosts equipped, which means most of the time, when people aren't on their islands, their minions won't be getting boosted by these upgrades, resulting in less overall output from the minions per day, whilst people who pay for an alt account will have an advantage over those reasons who don't, as they can leave their alt online on their island constantly afk.
Now why is this an issue? Well, let's use the example of a potato minion:
Per day, a setup of 31 minions, being affected by a postcard, T5 beacon with the upgraded fuel, mithril infusions, flycatchers, free wills, and hyper catalysts (all calculated in offline calculations) will earn you 3,133,728 potatoes, however if you pay for an alt/alternative account who stays online constantly (having the effect of a rabbit pet, potato talisman, and farm crystal, all online calculations), you will earn 4,037,688 potatoes per day (an increase of 903,960 potatoes)
Essentially, you can pay real money to get more collection.
So, what do I propose? I propose two potential solutions:
1. Personally, I love this suggestion, and it would fit perfectly, and additionally the ability to put your pets and other buffs into some special section.
or alternatively,
2. The ability to "place" your upgrades into a new special item holder which you can place on your island which will mean that your island will use those upgrades in offline calculations.
By implementing one of these systems, minions could be a fairer system where players do not have to feel pressurized into buying an alt account with their real money in order to stay ahead of the game in collection or XP.
