Main Game Skywars:
Hypixel Skywars has always been an EXTREMELY competitive game, which tended to make it pretty unforgiving for new players. To me, that was a large part of the attraction when I first started playing Java Edition in 2019. Skywars over the years has continued to become more unforgiving, more precise, and worse. Updates for a long time, just weren't hitting the mark for me, and clearly, the rest of the community seemed to agree as players began dropping off, saying Skywars was getting worse, and even people that frequented the game were saying it was getting worse, and I think the first big step in the right direction was well over a year ago now when they added the new perk system. It added two big things...
1. More Newbie Accessible/Friendly.
2. New level of Strategy.
After that, all the "big" updates were mostly new maps or micro-adjustments to perks, kit balancing, descent tree, etc. Good things to focus on, but they weren't anything particularly special, but this absolute overhaul, while a big adjustment to make, I think, is the most important update Skywars has seen in years.
It has totally changed the way the game is played as far as Normal mode is concerned (Insane mode wouldn't queue lol). It's also important to note that the huge nerfs for a large majority of the kits with utility reductions, armor weakening, and weapon scaling was important too, as it makes the default kit playable until a newbie can get their grubby little mitts on a kit of their very own! If I had to guess, the pearls in the island chests won't be popular now for longer time players, but I think it's also a really great addition. A new island item to keep your eyes out for is always good fun, and the spreading of the wealth makes for even more interesting and fun gameplay. I suppose there's also some level of comedy to me about fighting a guy in Normal mode and having him chase me using 8 pearls just to miss one and fall into the void lol
I like the new UI, it's more intuitive than before, with minor UI changes having bigger impacts for me personally than they probably should...
This is an extremely rare occasion where I don't have any complaints or criticisms to offer. I'm sure in time, with play sessions longer than 45 minutes I'll find things to complain about, but as of right now, the update feels fresh, fun, and welcoming to new players, old players, and players of varying skillsets of varying degree!
Mini Mode (Ranked Revamped):
I'm not sure if this gamemode is bugged, or if I'm just uneducated on it, but this whole gamemode felt like witchcraft, and none of it made sense to me. Fortunately, I remmebered left-clicking people does damage so we were fine
