Installing windows 1.0 on a 1984 pc

Hello guys! Today I got a brand new 5.25 inch floppy drive, and I'm going to be installing it into my Windows XP computer.

Now what does this have to do with installing windows 1 on a 1984 pc? Well, this opens the opportunity to transfer files to and from my IBM pc.

If you haven't known already, I own an IBM 5155, a computer originally released in 1984, which I bought around 9 months ago. Now that I have another 5.25 inch floppy drive, I can transfer whatever programs I want to it, but first I have to set it up.

This actually looks better than I had anticipated. Not good, but better than I thought.
For some reason, this computer doesn't like it when I connect 2 floppy drives at the same time, so I'll have to keep the 3.5 inch drive unplugged for now

Now that the drive is ready, it's time to write the floppy disks. Yesterday, I found a download for the Windows 1.01 files (There was never a Windows 1.00, fun fact, 1.01 was the very first version released. It went up to 1.04 before Windows 2) on winworldpc.com, and I used winimage to write the files to the disks.

Now that the disks are ready, it's time to install this for real.

The setup is pretty typical, it asked me a couple questions and copied a bunch of files onto the hard drive. Now it's time to start it up for the first time.

There it is, Windows 1 (Or 1.01, whatever).

Unfortunately, it won't let me use paint because of hard disk space.

Here is the calendar, the date and time is way off.

Now go to Hypixel Forums in that

Technically, 1.01 was NOT the very first version. It was the FIRST released one but if we are talking about Beta builds there are things like Premiere Edition or Development Releases.

Either way sick content, love to see more like this inside Forums
