  2. Account is Already Linked

    Sometimes players have a problem where when they try to link their account, it says it's already been linked. Usually in this situation, the account was linked to another account in the past and you forgot. The best way to find out what account it's linked to is for searching the player.

    First step, simply place your name in this link: https://hypixel.net/player/YOURNAME/. For example, here's the link to mine: https://hypixel.net/player/SylentButDedly/. Navigate to the button under the skin that says "Forum Profile."

    That button should lead you to whatever profile your Minecraft account is already linked to. If you know the login information, login, drop down the profile menu at the top of the page, click "Minecraft Account", then click "Unlink" and then link it to the new Forum account.

    If you forgot the password, you can click the "Forgot Password" option on the login page. If you forgot the email address, simply login using the forum account's name.


    Fix Summary:
    Find the profile the account is linked to and unlink it.

  3. Not Receiving Mystery Box Items

    Most of the time this isn't an actual bug. If you just opened a mystery box but did not receive the item it said you did, normally you just need to change lobbies or disconnect and reconnect to the server. It's just a matter of the server updating the items you have unlocked.

  4. Unable To Locate Sign and/or Stuck in Limbo

    These two problems are similar yet can be different so I will discuss them separately.

    The 'sign' bug is easily identified by the spam in your chat of "Unable to Locate Sign at ###". Sometimes you will also see the sky switching between night and day, or you will see another game or server's chat. This bug is strictly in 1.8, and happens sometimes when the server thinks you're in two places at once. There are a few possible solutions for this bug. The first, and most often helpful, fix is restarting your client (your minecraft program). This almost always fixes the bug, so it's a good thing to start with. Another fix is to use 1.9. Since this bug is 1.8 only, if you log into the server using any version of 1.9, it will usually be fixed. If neither of those work, you can also try connecting to the server IP stuck.hypixel.net. This will reset your player's location to the main lobby and cure the system's confusion.

    The other part of the bug, being stuck in limbo, is generally the same thing. This bug will happen in both 1.8 and 1.9, and is identified by you being repeatedly sent to limbo every time you join the server or try connecting to the lobby. The cause of this problem is the same as the other bug, the server thinking you're in two places at once. The most common fix for this is just to connect to stuck.hypixel.net. Another thing that sometimes works is just to sit offline for a few minutes. At times, this will allow the server to realize you're actually offline and correct itself, allowing you to join back again.

    If none of these solutions work, and you are still experiencing this issue, please make a bug report HERE and a moderator will help you further.


    Fix Summary:
    Restart your Minecraft.
    Switch to 1.9.
    Connect to 'stuck.hypixel.net'

  5. Connection Issues

    Many players seem to be reporting having similar connection issues. Some examples of these issues can be getting stuck in Limbo, or getting kicked with messages such as "Timed Out" or "Disconnected". Most of the time, you can fix this by just connecting to the IP stuck.hypixel.net and it will reset your location on the server. The cause of this is usually when your player is stuck in a game or lobby while you are not actually there. Connecting to that IP will put you back in the main lobby.

    Another issue that is seen frequently is not being able to connect with errors including "Bad Packet" or something related to packets or packet size. This is most commonly a client side issue. Once again, this means that it's your side and not the server's. There currently is no definite fix, but methods that sometimes help are restart your client or try another Minecraft version.

  6. Instance Specific Issues

    These are issues that are specific to one single game, rather than in every single game you play. For these issues, be sure to do "/whereami" in the game that is broken. This will present you with a server number, also known as an instance. The server number will always be either 'mini' or 'mega' along with a number/letter combination (Ex. mini54K or mega24M). If you encounter a server specific bug, please message a staff member in-game about the issue, including the server number. This is so that the issue can be passed to the Developers faster and the broken game can be restarted.

    Another example of a server specific issue is a null connection error. The full error will be "Exception Connecting:ReadTimeoutException : null" or something similar. This means that the server/game you were trying to join crashed or is being restarted. Just to be safe, please be sure to report these issues to a staff member in-game, and once again, including the server number it says next to "Sending you to...".

  7. Store Related Issues

    Many times players will have issues that should be submitted to the Hypixel Support (http://support.hypixel.net/) but report them here by accident. Please keep in mind that it can take up to 3 days for support to respond. This is because of the large amount of requests they get, so it can take some time to respond to all of them. If they do not respond within that time period, feel free to send them another ticket.

    These are some common problems that are reported.

    Purchase Failure:
    Players tend to come here first if their purchase from the Hypixel Store fails to go through. Keep in mind, it can take up to one hour for a purchase to go through. If it does not show up by then, submit a ticket at http://support.hypixel.net/ with the necessary information about your purchase (Transaction ID and Minecraft Username) and they will help you as much as possible.

    Rank Removal or Chargeback Bans:
    In very rare occasions, a chargeback will occur and a player will lose their rank or will be banned from the server, since chargeback is strictly not allowed. Chargeback is when someone takes back their money. Please direct issues like these towards http://support.hypixel.net/ and they will explain the situation and help out.

  8. Voting Errors

    Sometimes, usually rarely, a voting website given by the Delivery Man will be offline or giving an error when you vote there. These types of issues are usually on the website's side and not us, but we do have a simple workaround if this happens. If this happens, vote on one of these other websites:


    These are all of the current websites that should allow voting. Some of them might redirect to http://hypixel.net/play and some of these sites go on and off the Delivery Man, so just try another one if that happens.

  11. Common Housing Issues

    This section will highlight some quick common housing issues that are commonly reported merged into one area.

    Housing Water and Lava Issues:
    Water and lava are known to be very glitchy when it comes to housing. Sometimes the liquids will get stuck even when the source block is gone and it can cause cleanup to be very annoying, especially when it flows outside the plot. If you need any help cleaning it up, let a staff member know. Here is a guide on how to contact a staff member in-game: https://support.hypixel.net/article/101-contacting-a-staff-member/.

    Invisible Blocks:
    There are times where blocks will become invisible and get stuck. This most frequently happens with pistons when you spam activate them, the block disappears and it will seem like there's an invisible, unbreakable block there. However, there is now an easy fix for this. Stand inside the invisible block and type /housing fixpiston and it'll delete the block.

  12. Unable to Remove Friend

    On rare occasions, players will be unable to remove a certain player from their friend list. This is because that the user changed their name recently and someone else took it. Due to the way the server works, it will not update their name to the new one until they log on again. If the old person doesn't log on and update the name and the new player logs on and takes the name, it'll result in two people having the same name according to the server. Therefore if you try to remove the old one, it will think you're trying to remove the other and claim you don't have them added to your friend list.

    A simple fix to this was added last year. You can use the player's UUID in any friend command. You can put their name into a site like https://namemc.com/ and it will bring up all information on the each person that has used the name. Once you find the correct one, you can see their UUID. You can then use that UUID to remove them as a friend.

    As an example, if you wanted to remove me from your friend list, you could use "/f remove 5887350330aa49c2b7d1e31cc69141a7". The UUID can be found here: https://namemc.com/profile/SylentButDedly/588735.

    Fix Summary:
    Use their UUID in the friend remove command.

  13. "'directory' is not a directory" Errors

    This is not a massively common issue, however it is fairly frequent issue and can be complicated for some so I figured I'd make a more detailed entry to this guide for it. Basic information is that this happens when you try to load a server resource pack (by playing games such as Warlords, Cops n Crims, Smash Heroes, etc) and there isn't a folder for Minecraft to actually store the resource pack, hence it kicking you from the server. The way to fix this is simply creating a folder called "server-resource-packs" in your ".minecraft" folder. More details on how to do that found below.

    In order to get to your main ".minecraft" folder, type "%appdata%" into the search bar and click the folder that shows up.

    Then scroll down and find the folder called ".minecraft". Once done, create a new folder called "server-resource-packs"

    Now rejoin Hypixel and it should be fine!

    In order to find your main "minecraft" folder, first open the Finder app. Once there, press Command+Shift+G and it will open a search window. Type in "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft". This should immediately bring you to your "minecraft" folder.

    Next up, simply create a new folder called "server-resource-packs". Then you should be able to join back on Hypixel just fine!

  14. "Cannot send chat message"

    Occasionally players will encounter an issue where they cannot talk in chat. This is simply because you might have accidentally changed your chat settings in Minecraft to only allow you to run commands. This results in a message saying "Cannot send chat message" when you try to do anything but use a command.

    To fix this issue, first go to the pause menu or main menu of Minecraft. Once there, click on Options.

    Finally, make sure "Chat: " is set to "Shown".

  15. Missing Games in Compass

    Within the Profile settings in lobbies there is an option to toggle the old compass layout, also called the Alternative Game Menu Layout. The old compass layout has icons for each individual Classic Game as it was before they were moved to the Classic Games lobby. However, this layout is no longer supported and therefore does not have icons for games such as Bedwars and Duels.

    Sometimes players will unintentionally toggle this option on and end up confused as to where some of the newer games have gone. This is a simple guide on how to toggle this setting back.

    First off, go to your "My Profile" menu found in your inventory when in lobbies.

    Then click on the "Settings & Visibility" icon. This icon is the Redstone Comparator item.

    Now, make sure that the "Alternative Game Menu Layout" is turned OFF. It will be gray and the text will be red when it's turned off.

    That should do it, your compass menu should look like it normally does again, with all current games!

  16. Disconnected During Mystery Box

    If you were kicked or accidentally disconnected while opening a Mystery Box, don't worry! Mystery Boxes are designed to not be impacted by such events. When you open a Mystery Box, you get the item immediately after clicking to open it. It simply doesn't tell you what you got until the end of the animation.

    If you disconnected during the animation, you still have the item. If you go into your Mystery Vault in any lobby you can hover over the book item to see your 5 most recent Mystery Box items. Your unknown item will be on the top of this list. :)
