Hey! Today we have released a juicy Zombies update to Arcade, including a new map, new guns, new powerups, difficulties, bugfixes, and more! The new map - Alien Arcadium - contains a plethora of exclusive new features, while the old Zombies maps receive some QoL changes and a return of difficulties! Additionally, we have added 4 new Miniwalls maps. Read on to learn more about the update. ▶ Overview Added new Zombies map, Alien Arcadium, with many special features. Added back Hard and RIP difficulties, in the form of Party Options. Added a way to view your Zombies statistics in the Arcade Lobby. Made many QoL changes to Dead End and Bad Blood gameplay. Fixed lots of Zombies bugs. Added 4 new Miniwalls maps. ▶ New Zombies Map Aliens have come to invade a theme park! Fend off space-themed enemies with special abilities, including Space Blasters, Worms, Sentinels, and Chgluglu (squid-like henchmen that blast ink on any nearby players). Battle boss Giants, Ghasts, Blobs, and more to prove your superiority to the visitors from the sky! Don't forget to look up! Alien Arcadium is "endless" in that there isn't a set level for you to reach to win the game. The goal here is to progress through as many rounds as you can before the zombies inevitably destroy you. Let us know how you do! Alien Arcadium comes with many exclusive features: Double Barrel Shotgun - shoots a wide spray of bullets, can shoot 2 quick bursts in succession before having to reload. Found in the Lucky Chest. Rainbow Rifle - shoots a colorful burst of 3 bullets at a time. Found in the Lucky Chest. Skills - abilities found in the Lucky Chest that grant you a buff on cooldown. Current Skills include the Heal Skill, which heals you and nearby teammates, and the Lightning Rod Skill, which deals massive damage to your targeted enemy and nearby enemies. Carpenter Power Up - repairs all windows and grants all players some Gold. Shopping Spree Power Up - reduces the cost of the Lucky Chest to 100 Gold temporarily, and decreases the time it takes to roll. Bonus Gold Power Up - everybody gets some Gold! Target Practice Minigame - compete with your teammates to hit the targets at the Target Practice stand in the corner of the map. Hitting some targets grants a small reward! Developer Note: [ Our goal with this map is to make it fun to play for newer and more experienced players alike. Early rounds aren't as difficult while later rounds become exponentially more challenging, in the same vein as Hard and RIP difficulties. We likely will not be adding Hard and RIP versions for this map, although we do want to make it a challenge for veteran players to progress! ] ▶ Party Options - Hard and RIP Difficulties With the move to Arcade, we made the difficult decision to remove Hard and RIP difficulty modes from Zombies. We could not justify keeping these modes around in their original state as too few players played them. Balancing zombies/rounds for 12 modes for Zombies, many of which had no players playing at any given time, turned out to be a nightmare. However, we recognize the community's desire to have Hard and RIP difficulties and have done our best to bring them back, albeit not in their original form. From now on, parties of 4 will be able to join Dead End and Bad Blood and select their desired difficulty level from the Party Options Menu in-game. Alien Arcadium does not have the option for Hard and RIP difficulties as we wanted to focus on delivering the best base experience as possible for the new map. In the pregame lobby, the party leader is given this menu on their hotbar. Only the party leader has the ability to change the difficulty, but other members of the party are allowed to view the menu. Note that in the future we may add other options for parties to select in order to make the game more of a challenge. For now, the party leader can only change the difficulty of the game. Developer Note: [ Hard and RIP difficulties are intended to be challenging modes that require excellent teamwork and communication. We feel that restricting these modes to 4-player parties is a fair trade-off - veteran Zombies players can team up with their experienced friends while newer players are greatly encouraged to start out with the normal difficulty. ] ▶ Zombies Statistics You can now view your Zombies statistics in the Arcade Lobby via the Zombies NPC! Stats are tracked per-map and globally, so you can see how you fare on all 3 maps. Many stats were not tracked per-map prior to this update, so you may notice some discrepancies. Additionally, we are now tracking the stat "Windows Repaired", which counts if you are the one to finish repairing a window. Note: Stats are saved per-difficulty, they are just currently not displayed anywhere. Also of note, we have decided to change the pregame leaderboards to display Total Rounds Survived instead of Fastest Win. You can view your Weekly, Monthly, and Lifetime standing for each map. We have made this change for a couple of reasons, the first being that we realized that after a certain point it is impossible to win the game faster without cheating. Thus players not on the Fastest Win leaderboard likely will never have that chance. The second reason, perhaps more importantly, is that we want to encourage replayability of Zombies without requiring you to speed run all the way to victory. By showcasing your total rounds survived, you don't necessarily need to win the game as fast as possible in order to have a chance of making the leaderboard. We will still be tracking your fastest win statistic, but we will not be displaying it in the pregame leaderboard. Let us know what you think! UPDATE September 7th: We have added back the Fastest Win leaderboards by popular demand! Dead End and Bad Blood now have both Total Rounds Survived and Fastest Win leaderboards. Alien Arcadium has Total Rounds Survived and Best Round Survived since it is endless. ▶ Bugfixes and Changes Fixed some enemy types having the wrong health in some rounds. Fixed Power Up boss bar timers hanging at 0.1s, they will now properly display when the timer ends. Fixed getting knocked while nicked showing your non-nicked skin. Fixed bullet particles not passing through barrier blocks. Fixed rank colors not showing in pregame lobby. Fixed "RIGHT-CLICK with gun to shoot!" message showing to more experienced players. Changed Pistol Ultimate clip ammo to 14 (was 15) and max ammo to 448 (was 450) to ensure Pistol Ultimate always shoots two bullets. Changed Insta Kill icon to a skull head instead of a sword. Renamed Weapons Chest to Lucky Chest. Added a Practice Gun in pregame, allowing players to practice shooting before the game begins. Added Practice Dummies to all maps in pregame. Changed leaderboards to show Total Rounds Survived instead of Fastest Win. Extended time limit from 90 minutes to 2 hours. Improved Armor wall shop display to show what armor you are currently wearing plus the armor you would get if you purchased. Added a red tint to the screen when you are knocked down. Added sounds to indicate when the game starts, when you advance to the next round, and when the game ends. Added unique sounds for activating each power up. ▶ Miniwalls Maps We have added 4 new Miniwalls maps in this update. Check them out below!
